Srinagar,(DD): As the region prepares for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi, led an extensive security review meeting at the PCR Kashmir today.
Senior officials from various security agencies, including IGP CRPF Srinagar, DIG Armed/IR Kashmir, DIG BSF Srinagar, and other key law enforcement representatives, were in attendance.
The meeting began with a detailed briefing from the officers, who presented their plans for securing public spaces, managing crowds, and facilitating the smooth conduct of the event. Discussions focused on the strategic deployment of police personnel, intelligence updates, and key security measures for highways, railway tracks, and stations.
IGP Kashmir directed the officers to remain highly vigilant, reinforcing the need for meticulous planning and coordination to maintain peace and security. He also instructed the Traffic wing to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan, ensuring smooth movement of both public transport and protected persons.
In light of growing concerns, IGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of strict legal action against elements seeking to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere, particularly those misusing social media platforms to incite violence.
The meeting concluded with a firm commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful Republic Day celebration across Kashmir.(DD)
