Jammu,(TDD): For the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Army Colonel has been appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Training and Special Operations in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
This appointment comes in response to the recent surge in terrorist activities in the Jammu region.
Colonel Vikrant Prasher, a Shaurya Chakra awardee and Commanding Officer of Indian Army Special Force 10 Para, will be on deputation to the J&K Police for two years. He will be training J&K Police officials for special operations and training. Colonel Prasher is a resident of Udhampur and studied at Army Public School Udhampur.
As Per the Order avilable with The Diplomat Digital The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed Colonel Vikrant Prasher, Para, High Altitude Warfare School Gulmarg, from the Indian Army as Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Training) & Special (Operations) in the J&K Police.
The appointment is on a deputation basis for two years.
The government order issued in this regard states that the decision was taken in the interest of administration. Colonel Prasher will be entitled to the salary and allowances admissible to Army officers of equivalent rank and status performing duties in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. His salary will be drawn against a deputation reserve post of the J&K Police.
The government has also approved the accommodation for Colonel Prasher as per the entitlement of his rank.(TDD)
