Inauguration of Project Sena Sarthi at Leh

Leh,DD, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander, Northern Command dedicated the first of its kind, Project Sena Sarthi to Forever in Operations Division on 28 November 2025. In a major advancement towards strengthening logistics infrastructure in High Altitude Areas, the Indian Army in partnership with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has commissioned underground fuel, oil and lubricant storage facilities in the Kargil Sector. The project was e-inaugurated at Leh by Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander, Northern Command and Shri Subhankar Sen, Director Marketing, BPCL on 28 November 2025 in the presence of Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, Corps Commander, Fire And Fury Corps
and Lt Gen Mukesh Chadha, Senior Colonel Commandant, Army Services Corps.


These newly constructed storage tanks will significantly enhance the fuel holding capacity, ensuring sustained operational preparedness for troops deployed in one of the most challenging terrains and climatic conditions in the country. It will double the existing underground fuel storage capacity in a single season a leap unmatched in 25 years. The initiative reflects the strong collaboration between the Indian Army and BPCL, aimed at bolstering critical infrastructure and ensuring seamless logistics support to troops deployed in border areas.DD
