Doda:DD, In view of the continuous rainfall and increasing risk of landslides and flash floods in various parts of the district, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta chaired virtually a high-level meeting with all police officers of the district today to review their preparedness and response mechanisms of the incessant rains and inclement weather.
The officers stationed at Hqrs attended the meeting in person.

The SSP took a comprehensive review of field-level readiness, especially in vulnerable zones prone to sliding, road blockages, and flash floods, and issued strict directions to GOs, SHOs and IC Police Posts to remain on high alert and extend immediate assistance to any affected individual or locality.
The safety of citizens is our topmost priority. All officers must remain in close coordination with the civil administration and be present on the ground to provide help, especially in critical and remote areas,” said SSP Doda

Key Directions Issued by SSP Doda:

Immediate deployment of rescue teams in areas affected by sliding and waterlogging. Round-the-clock patrolling and monitoring of roads vulnerable to landslides. Prompt evacuation of residents from flood-prone and vulnerable houses/slopes.
Quick restoration of traffic movement with the help of concerned departments. Ensure regular updates to the Police Control Room (PCR) about the ground situation. Establish temporary assistance centers and help desks for the public. Maintain constant communication with the District Administration, SDRF, and other agencies. Deploy public address systems in sensitive areas to disseminate information and advisories. The SSP further directed officers to ensure timely medical assistance, shelter, and basic supplies to affected people and warned against any laxity or delay in response.

Police officers have also been asked to document and report any incidents of property damage, injuries, or displacement immediately, to facilitate coordinated relief and compensation efforts.

Community Advisory:

The Doda Police has appealed to the public to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, avoid venturing near rivers or sliding zones, and report any emergencies on the district helpline numbers. Citizens are also encouraged to cooperate with local police and follow advisories issued from time to time. Moreover general public is requested to not share the old videos on social media. If anybody found sharing such videos or disseminating rumours shall be dealt with sternly.DD
