LEH:DD, In a profound tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the soldiers during Operation VIJAY, the Indian Army in collaboration with Civil Health Department organised Mega Medical Camps in the remote areas of Batalik, Dras and Kargil as part of commemoration of 26th year of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The Medical Camps were organised all across Western Ladakh at Batalik (Hanuyogma), Dras (Mughalpura) and Kargil (Sankoo) from 17 to 20 July 2025.
These Medical Camps were organised in one of the most isolated regions of Ladakh, aimed to extend critical healthcare support to the local community, with special focus on Pre and Post-Natal Care for pregnant women.
In addition to Maternal Health Services, the Camps featured consultations and treatments across multiple medical specialties, including, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Dentistry, ENT and Surgery.
A highly dedicated team of 21 doctors and 50 medical staff combined from the Indian Army and Civil Health Department contributed to deliver compassionate and high quality healthcare.
Over 2,000 general patients and 300 pregnant women from about 40 villages availed free services, benefiting from medical consultations, medicines, diagnostics and health education sessions tailored to the needs of the population residing in high altitude areas.
The Medical Camp at Mughalpura in Dras Sector also included Veterinary Care where hundreds of Bakarwals and their thousands of animals received special medical care.
Special efforts were undertaken by Metro Zone Health Services Pvt Ltd, to provide medicines all the way from Indore to the remote regions of Ladakh. Free School Bags were donated by Sewaj Neesim Foundation to the children of Bakarwals in the Bakarwal School, Mughalpura.
