Indian Army Organises Multi-Sport Tournaments to Promote Youth Development in Rajouri

Rajouri: DD, The Indian Army organised a series of sports competitions across Rajouri district to promote fitness, teamwork and community bonding among local youth.
The events included Cricket, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Kabaddi tournaments, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students and villagers.
In Lam, Rajouri, a cricket competition featuring ten teams from various villages was held over eight days. The final match on 20 November 2025 culminated in a vibrant prize distribution ceremony.
The local players, many participating in a formal tournament for the first time, displayed exceptional teamwork and discipline. The overwhelming turnout of spectators created an electrifying atmosphere, reflecting the deep-rooted love for cricket in the region.
In Keri, Rajouri, the Army organised a Kho-Kho competition under Operation Sadbhavana for girls in Under-14 and Under-17 categories. Held at Government High School Lam, the event encouraged young female athletes to exhibit their skills and break barriers through active sports participation.
The matches were competitive and spirited, with teams from Laroka and Kalsiyan delivering strong performances.
Meanwhile, in Qila Darhal, Rajouri, a Volleyball tournament involving five village teams concluded with Lam village emerging victorious after intense clashes.


The event highlighted the importance of sports in fostering camaraderie and physical fitness, drawing large crowds from neighbouring villages.
At Parat, Rajouri, a Kabaddi tournament held from 18 to 20 November saw six school teams competing fiercely. Government High School Thandapani clinched the title after an impressive performance.
The lively environment showcased community unity, cultural spirit and support for local talent.

Across all events, the Indian Army provided full logistical, technical and administrative support. The initiatives not only built confidence among the youth but also strengthened the bond between the Army and the local population, reinforcing its role as a pillar of goodwill, empowerment and social development in the region.DD
