Indian Army organizes sports events under ‘Mendhar Festival’

Aims to engage youth – local communities of Mendhar & Poonch

Mendhar,DD: Indian Army today organized ‘Mendhar Festival featuring a series of sports activities with an aim to engage youth and local communities of Mendhar and Poonch District – under Operation Sadbhavana.
The occasion was organized under the aegis of Bhimber Gali Brigade and received significant support and positive feedback from both young participants and local residents.
The overarching aim of Mendhar Festival is to provide a constructive platform for youth engagement, identify talent in various sports and raise awareness about government schemes.
The program initiatives across multiple sectors such as employment generation, skill development and agriculture-based enterprises for betterment of the society.


The Mendhar Sports Festival 2025 featured a series of sporting events open to both boys and girls to include Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Cricket, Athletics and Mendhar Marathon.
The event will culminate in a grand finale scheduled on 11 Dec 2025.
During the final event, winning teams will be felicitated, young achievers will be recognized, local traditional / cultural games will be performed and information kiosks and counters will also be set up by various Government agencies to provide insights about Government initiatives/ schemes available for various sections of society.
The Mendhar Sports Festival 2025 officially commenced on November 24 with the thrilling Kabaddi Championship, which saw participation from five talented teams from the Mendhar Region.
The teams that showcased their skills and spirit were BHSS Harni, BHSS Mendhar, Brother’s Club, GDC Mendhar and Mendhar Club.
The matches were played with great enthusiasm, setting the tone for an exciting festival.DD
