Indian Army Provides Professional Training to Women at Loran, Poonch

Mendhar: The closing ceremony of the stitching and tailoring classes for women of Loran was successfully conducted by the Indian Army in coordination with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana.

The initiative aimed to empower local women through skill development and promote self-reliance by providing practical vocational training.

The programme offered hands-on instruction in stitching, cutting, garment designing, and basic embroidery techniques. Under the guidance of experienced trainers, the women learned to operate sewing machines efficiently and gained the confidence to undertake tailoring assignments independently.

The training not only enhanced their technical skills but also fostered entrepreneurial thinking, enabling them to explore self-employment and income-generation opportunities from home.

The ceremony was marked by enthusiasm and pride as certificates were awarded to the successful trainees in recognition of their dedication. A key highlight was the distribution of sewing machines, enabling the women to immediately apply their newly acquired skills and contribute to their families’ livelihoods.

This initiative reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to community outreach and nation-building efforts beyond its primary mandate. By promoting skill development and economic independence among women, the programme has created a lasting positive impact, inspiring others in the community to pursue similar growth opportunities.DD
