Diplomat Correspondent

Leh: Two community members of Punguk Village, Mr Tsering Damdul, age 55 and Ms Tsering Dolma, age 28, met with an accident while travelling from Koyul to Punguk in dangerous and rugged terrain of Changthang region. With no information of their whereabouts, their worried family members along with Community Representatives approached the Indian Army for help at Punguk at 2210hrs.

A search & rescue effort was launched immediately by Indian Army. Their Vehicle was located near Narbula Top (17,328 ft) at 0039 hrs. Both individuals were stuck for over 4 hrs and were rescued with mild hypothermia & frostbite. Immediate medical aid was administered to them on the spot and later they were brought to Medical Aid Post at Punguk at 0210 hrs.
Both were further treated & stabilised by Army Medical Team. It was prompt action by Army in the crucial hours that saved the lives of the community members. Both individuals are stable and under close care of Army Doctors.DD
