Srinagar, (DD) Security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district on Wednesday, killing two terrorists in a fierce gunfight.
Official sources said alert troops detected movement in the Sarjeevan area near Uri Nala and challenged a group of infiltrators attempting to cross into Indian territory. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, leading to the elimination of two militants.
During the operation, a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and other war-like stores was recovered from the slain terrorists, suggesting they were heavily armed and prepared for a prolonged engagement.
The operation remains ongoing, with additional reinforcements deployed to sanitize the area and ensure there are no remaining threats. Security forces continue to maintain a high alert across forward posts amid intelligence inputs indicating possible further infiltration attempts.(DD)
