Udhampur :DD,A heartening example of community involvement in wildlife conservation has emerged from the Kaghote village of Ramnagar tehsil in Udhampur district. The Wildlife Department of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur division proved its commitment to wildlife protection by successfully rescuing an injured owl on Sunday. The rescue operation reflected the positive relationship between local residents and the wildlife department, demonstrating collaborative efforts for the betterment of endangered species.
According to the Udhampur Wildlife Department’s Forest guard Joginder Paul, the department received the most critical information regarding a wounded owl located in Khagote village. In his remarkable address, Paul welcomed the villagers for their high environmental consciousness, noting how they had located the distraught bird and carefully trapped it. Concerned with the fate of the wounded owl, the villagers made contact with the Udhampur officials and transported the bird to them for its safe delivery.
The Wildlife Department has confirmed that the owl is receiving comprehensive medical treatment at their facilities. After recovery, the department will shift the owl to Jammu for further care and rehabilitation with the aim of releasing the bird back into its natural habitat. This incident is a strong reminder of the role that local communities play in successful wildlife conservation.DD
