Kuala Lumpur: DD, The International Sama’ Hadith Sahih Muslim Conference, hosted by the Malaysian government, will conclude today (Friday) at Masjid Putra, Putrajaya, in the esteemed presence of renowned scholars from around the world. The conference was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Closing Ceremony will be led by the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad. Scholars, students of Islamic studies, and participants from Malaysia and abroad will attend the final session.
Organized with the aim of preserving and promoting Islamic heritage and tradition, the conference highlights the significance of Hadith literature—considered the second most authoritative source in Islam after the Holy Qur’an. Beginning on the 19th of this month, the 12-day gathering featured daily recitals led by eminent scholars from various countries.

Under Malaysia’s Madani vision, numerous initiatives have been launched to promote and strengthen traditional Islamic teachings. In line with this mission, Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM), under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, began hosting annual Hadith assemblies at Masjid Putra in July 2023. Following the conferring of the prestigious Ma’al Hijrah Award—Malaysia’s highest honor for scholars—the Grand Mufti of India was chosen to inaugurate the inaugural series of these Hadith gatherings.
A total of 1,000 selected participants are attending the 12-day continuous recitation of the complete Sahih Muslim. The sessions are held under the supervision of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar. In addition to the Grand Mufti, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hakeem Azhari, Chief Imam of Jamiul Futuh—Grand Indian Masjid, will also be present from India.

Prominent attendees at the closing ceremony include Sheikh Wan Muhammad Izzuddin, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hasan, Sheikh Husain Abdul Qadir Al-Yousufi, Sheikh Nooruddin Marbu Al-Makki, and Dr. Naji Al-Arabi, among others. As part of his five-day official visit, the Grand Mufti of India will participate in several cultural and academic programs and will hold a special meeting with the Prime Minister.DD
