Srinagar, DD, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Youth Federation held its 5th one day District Conference at Kulgam. The Presidium included Wahid Sultan Dar, Mohd.Abass Rather,Javed Iqbal Parrey, Sheeraz Ahmad Dar, Irshad Ahmad and Imtiaz Ahmad Dar.
The flag of JKDYF was unfurled by Wahid Sultan Bhat, state president.
In his inaugural address, Abdul Rashid Zainpora, the former State Secretary said that the youth of the state are going through the toughest times in absence of job opportunities and dignified life. There is no alternative but to unitedly fight the exploitative policies of the government including contractualization
of jobs on meagre pea nuts without any job security.
Aashaq Hussain Dar, the outgoing district secretary elaborated on the Secretary report with the activities carried by the federation for the last three years.
Wahid Sultan Dar, the president, JKDYF laid stress on the strengthening of the organization so that the issues faced by the youth and society are taken up for redressal effectively. He demanded that democratic rights of the people of the state be restored without any further delay so that the legitimate issues of the youth including their dignified life is ensured.
Mohd.Abass Rather, member, Centre Executive Committee, DYFI and Vice-President, JKDYF vehemently rebuffed the claims of BJP government that floods of employment opportunities will be opened after abrogation of Article 370. But the ground realities are contrary to the fact. In fact, the number of educated unemployed youth in JK has swelled manifold after the abrogation. The educated unemployed youth include Phd scholars, doctors, technocrats, postgraduates, graduates etc.who are feeling frustrated and depressed in absence of job security. Urgent steps are required to be taken by the government to announce an employment package for the youth of the state so that their talent is utilised for nation building. The dignity of the youth lies in his earning capacity, the government’s both centre and state are duty bound to ensure the dignity of earning to the youth. Besides, he emphasized that Democratic rights be restored forthwith to ensure the rights of protest and demonstrations against the coercive and exploitative policies of the government as guaranteed by our Constitution.
Javed Iqbal Parrey, Secretary, JKDYF said that youth are the catalyst of change, as such, it is imperative for those in power to recognise this fact and utilize their talent and potential for the well being of society.
Among others, Sheeraz Ahmad Dar, Irshad Ahmad, Imtiaz Ahmad Dar etc.also addressed the Conference.
150 delegates participated in the conference, a 21 member district committee was elected with Amar Mansoor as District President and Rayees Ahmad Itoo District Secretary.DD
