Srinagar, (DD) The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway remains closed for traffic following extensive damages between Jakheni and Chenani, officials confirmed on Friday morning.

A fresh traffic advisory has urged commuters not to travel on the highway until restoration work is completed and the road surface is safe for movement. “People should not pay heed to rumours,” the advisory stressed.

Meanwhile, traffic on the Mughal Road and Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road is moving smoothly in line with earlier advisories. The Sinthan route has been opened only for light motor vehicles, as directed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

Authorities have further appealed to commuters to observe lane discipline, cautioning that overtaking could cause traffic congestion.(DD)
