Jammu, A significant milestone was achieved in Jammu & Kashmir with the inauguration of the first “Gen Z” Post Office at the Vijaypur campus. The initiative, undertaken by the Department of Posts as part of a programme to modernize campus post offices, aims to transform traditional postal facilities into youth-centric, technology-enabled service hubs. With this development, Vijaypur becomes the first AIIMS in the country to host a Gen Z Post Office.
The Gen Z Post Office was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, along with Sh. D. S. V. R. Murthy, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir Circle, and Sh. Shah Nawaz Khan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Postal Division. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, faculty members, staff, and students.
Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta highlighted that establishing a Gen Z Post Office on campus reflects the commitment to providing modern, accessible, and student-friendly services. He emphasized that the initiative aligns postal services with the evolving needs of young citizens through technology-driven and customer-centric solutions.
Designed to cater specifically to Generation Z, the office features a modern ambience, digital payment facilities, simplified service delivery, and integrated access to postal, banking, insurance, and e-commerce services under one roof. To commemorate this milestone, a special commemorative postal mark was issued on the inaugural day, and all outgoing mail from Vijaypur carried this mark.
The Gen Z Post Office is expected to promote awareness about postal savings schemes, digital banking services of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), and other value-added services among students, healthcare professionals, and the wider campus community.
This initiative marks an important step in strengthening campus-based public services and reflects the continued commitment to innovation, collaboration, and community-oriented development.DD
