J&K Bank Dachhan Theft Case Solved: Stolen Amount Recovered, Two Accused Arrested

Kishtwar, DD: In a major breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, District Kishtwar, have successfully solved the J&K Bank Suid, Dachhan theft case, arresting two accused and recovering a significant portion of the stolen amount.

SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS, stated that a complaint was received on February 3, 2025, from the Branch Manager of J&K Bank Suid, Dachhan, regarding a theft of ₹19,51,600/-. Acting swiftly, FIR No. 01/2025 was registered at Police Station Dachhan, and an investigation was launched.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of ASP (OPS) Kishtwar, Nisar Khoja-JKPS. The team, led by Dy.SP PC Dachhan Sumit Bhagat-JKPS, along with SHO PS Dachhan Insp. Harjeet Singh and other police personnel, meticulously collected evidence and analyzed CCTV footage. It was established that the theft occurred during the intervening night of February 1-2, 2025.

Following a thorough investigation, multiple suspects were detained for questioning. Through sustained efforts and technical analysis, the police identified and arrested the main accused:

  1. Mohd Yasin, S/o Ghulam Nabi, R/o Krossa, Sounder
  2. Bilal Ahmed, S/o Mohd Ramzan, R/o Lidhri, Dachhan

During interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. Based on their disclosure, the SIT, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate (EMIC), recovered more than ₹14 lakhs of the stolen amount. Further investigation is underway to recover the remaining sum.

In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused had burned their clothes, shoes, and the bag containing the stolen cash. However, the SIT acted swiftly and managed to retrieve crucial evidence, further strengthening the case.

SSP Kishtwar reaffirmed the commitment of Kishtwar Police to ensuring justice and maintaining law and order in the district. He urged the public to remain vigilant, install CCTV cameras at their homes and businesses, and report any suspicious activities to aid in curbing crime. Further arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation continues.DD
