Arun Jàsrotia

Jammu, (TDD): In a strong assertion regarding the growing security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP Chief Spokesman Sunil Sethi today demanded a thorough CBI investigation into the illegal settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in the region.

He expressed deep alarm over the fact that these foreign nationals, many of whom have settled in Jammu are in close proximity to the Pakistan border raising serious national security issues.

Addressing a press conference held alongside party spokespersons Abhijeet Jasrotia, Balbir Ram Rattan, Rajni Sethi, Y.V. Sharma, Dr. Tahir Choudhary and Altaf Thakur, Sethi pointed out that the BJP has consistently raised questions about how these individuals managed to illegally enter India, travel across multiple states, and eventually settle in Jammu. He called for accountability, urging the Lieutenant Governor (LG) to order a CBI inquiry to track down those responsible for bringing in and facilitating the settlement of these foreign nationals.

Sethi stressed that individuals and groups who have shown sympathy towards the illegal settlers or advocated for their cause in court should be held accountable and booked for anti-national activities. He particularly criticized certain political leaders, including a cabinet minister from the National Conference (NC), for allegedly siding with the illegal settlers. Sethi questioned whether these leaders respect and follow the law of the country, or if they believe they are above it in their attempts to appease these settlers.

Further, Sethi warned that by supporting the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, political parties were endangering the future of Jammu and Kashmir’s unemployed youth. He highlighted that many of the settlers have engaged in various jobs in the region, which he believes is directly impacting local employment opportunities.

Sethi concluded by stating that anyone wishing to settle in a country must go through proper legal channels, but in the case of the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, their illegal entry poses a significant threat to national security. He called for their immediate deportation, describing their presence near the border as unjustifiable by any standard-(TDD)
