Srinagar, (DD):The first Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in six years is set to commence on March 3, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address.
This session will mark a significant milestone as it will be the first budget presented by an elected government since 2018.
Spanning until April 11, the session will coincide with two major festivals—Holi on March 14 and Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31. Given the festive calendar, the assembly is expected to adjust its proceedings to accommodate the celebrations while ensuring uninterrupted legislative business.
The session is expected to witness intense discussions on governance, economic policies, and public welfare, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his government facing their first budget test since assuming office. Key issues such as infrastructure development, employment, and regional security are likely to take center stage.
With the opposition, led by the BJP and other regional parties, gearing up for rigorous scrutiny, the session is expected to be a politically charged affair. The final budget approval is anticipated before the session concludes on April 11, (DD)
