Jammu :TDD,Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) organized a protest march in Jammu, led by its top leadership including President Tariq Hameed Karra, Working President Tara Chand, and Working President Raman Bhalla. The demonstration was part of a nationwide protest campaign against the BJP-led central government, focusing on several critical issues that have dominated national discourse.
The protest march, which proceeded towards Raj Bhawan, centered on multiple concerns, with the Congress leaders specifically highlighting the controversial Adani Group matter and the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The leaders expressed deep concern over the government’s handling of these situations, joining their voice with the national Congress leadership’s demands for accountability and action.
A particularly strong point of contention during the protest was Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent parliamentary statement regarding Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, which the Congress leaders forcefully condemned as disrespectful to the architect of India’s constitution. The JKPCC leadership emphasized that such remarks were unacceptable and demanded an apology for what they perceived as an insult to Babasaheb’s legacy.
The demonstration also served as a platform to reiterate the long-standing demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress leaders emphasized that the region’s current status as a Union Territory falls short of the democratic aspirations of its people, and they continued to press for the return of full statehood, which was revoked in August 2019.TDD
