J&K Government announces recruitment for 281 vacancies in Jal Shakti, Allied Departments

Srinagar, (TDD): In a significant move to address manpower shortages and enhance efficiency in key public departments, the Jammu and Kashmir government has announced 281 vacancies across various positions in the Jal Shakti Department and allied divisions.

The recruitment drive includes roles such as Junior Engineers (Civil), Junior Assistants, Junior Stenographers, and Works Supervisors under different pay levels and cadres. According to officials, the vacancies have been identified based on sanctioned strength, incumbency positions, and existing gaps.

The highest number of positions—202 posts—are for Junior Engineer (Civil) under Pay Level-6 (UT Cadre) for the Jal Shakti Department. These engineers will play a critical role in designing, maintaining, and expanding the region’s water supply infrastructure.

Additionally, the government has announced: Junior Assistant positions under Pay Level-4: 12 posts for Division Jammu and vacancies for Division Kashmir.

Junior Stenographer positions under Pay Level 6-B: 15 posts spread across the PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) departments in Jammu and Kashmir.

Works Supervisor positions under SL-1: 51 posts distributed across PHE and I&FC departments in both divisions.

The division-wise breakdown of Works Supervisor positions includes 24 posts for PHE Jammu, 8 for I&FC Jammu, 12 for PHE Kashmir, and 7 for I&FC Kashmir.

The government has emphasized transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process, ensuring fair opportunities for all eligible candidates. This initiative is expected to strengthen the administrative and technical capacities of these departments, ultimately benefiting public service delivery.

The announcement has been widely welcomed, with young aspirants viewing it as a step towards creating employment opportunities and improving essential services in the Union Territory.
