Srinagar, (DD) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued a directive making it mandatory for all government officers and officials stationed in Srinagar and Jammu to attend the main Independence Day functions scheduled for August 15, 2025.

According to a circular issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the main events will be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. Attendance at these functions has been categorized as part of official duty.

The circular underscores that Independence Day is a significant national event celebrated annually on August 15, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s history. “It is the duty of every government servant to participate in this important occasion,” the circular notes.

All officers and officials stationed in Srinagar and Jammu have been directed to attend the respective functions. Any absence must be supported by prior approval from their immediate superior officer, failing which it will be treated as a dereliction of duty.

The circular also instructs all Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Managing Directors, and Chief Executives of Public Sector Undertakings, Corporations, and Boards to ensure that all employees under their administrative control comply with the directive.

Strict compliance has been sought to uphold the dignity and spirit of the national celebration and to ensure active participation from the government workforce across the Union Territory( DD)
