Srinagar, (TDD): As part of its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached properties worth over Rs 3 crore belonging to two notorious drug peddlers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In the first case, a three-storied residential house valued at Rs 65 lakh was attached in Banpora Batamaloo. The property, owned by Abdul Ahad Bhat, was identified as being acquired through proceeds of illegal drug trade. Bhat, a notorious drug peddler, was earlier booked under FIR No. 31/2024 at Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a significant amount of narcotics was recovered.

In another case, police attached a three-storied residential house in Azad Basti’s Umer Lane, estimated to be worth Rs 2.5 crore. The property belongs to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, whose son, Jan Manzoor Bhat, was booked under FIR No. 35/2024 at Police Station Chanapora for peddling narcotics in the area.

Both properties were acquired using profits from illegal drug trade and have been attached under Sections 68 and 68F of the NDPS Act. The properties cannot be transferred, sold, or dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority, as per the provisions of the Act.

This decisive action reflects J&K Police’s commitment to dismantling the financial networks supporting drug trafficking and curbing the drug menace in the region.(TDD)
