J&K POLICE DISTRICT KISHTWAR ARRESTS DRUG PEDDLER; 06 GMS OF HEROIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE RECOVERED

Kishtwar, DD, Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, J&K Police District Kishtwar apprehended a drug peddler at Link Road Malipath and recovered 06 grams of heroin-like substance (“chitta”) from his possession.

SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS, stated that during routine patrolling at Link Road Malipath area, a team led by SHO PS Kishtwar, Insp. Firdous Ahmed, assisted by IC PP Hidyal, and under the supervision of Dy. SP Headquarters, Dr. Ishan Gupta. During the frisking of vehicles and pedestrians, the patrolling party stopped the vehicle, Xylo JK17-1483 coming from Shalimar towards Kishtwarand upon conducting a personal search, patrolling party recovered 06 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession and arrested on spot.

The accused has been identified as Tariq Hussain, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Keshwan, presently residing at Malipath, Kishtwar.

In this regard, case FIR No. 76/2025, U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and further investigation has been initiated. The investigating officer has been directed to probe the backward and forward linkages of this drug network.

SSP Kishtwar reaffirmed J&K Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to support the police in this mission. He assured that the identity of informants would remain confidential and announced suitable rewards for those providing credible information.DD
