Sopore, (TDD) In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police destroyed narcotics worth over Rs 1 crore in Sopore, Baramulla district, today.
The operation, led by the District Drug Disposal Committee, was conducted as per the directives of the Hon’ble Special Court (NDPS), Baramulla. The committee, headed by SSP Sopore Divya D-IPS, included SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and DySP DAR Sopore as members.
The destroyed contraband, seized in 21 NDPS cases from various police stations across Sopore, included 123.728 kg of poppy straw/powder, 2,811 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, and 28,316 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon.
The drugs were incinerated at a designated facility in Lassipora, Pulwama, following all legal protocols under the NDPS Rules, 2022. The process was closely supervised to ensure compliance with court directives.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking. (TDD)
