Srinagar, (DD): The Jammu and Kashmir Police have ordered an inquiry into a viral video from Kulgam that has sparked public outrage. The video, widely shared on social media, allegedly shows a police officer misbehaving with civilians.
In an official statement posted on X, the police confirmed that they have taken cognizance of the incident. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir Range has been tasked with conducting the inquiry and will submit a report within 10 days.
“We acknowledge the concerns raised regarding the officer’s conduct in the viral video. A detailed inquiry has been initiated to establish the facts,” the police statement read.
The incident has added to growing tensions in Kulgam, where protests erupted following the deaths of two tribal youths. Political leaders and civil society members have called for strict action against any misconduct by law enforcement officials.
Authorities have assured a fair and transparent investigation, urging the public to await the findings of the probe(DD)
