J&K Retired Police Pensioners Protest Discrimination, Demand Pay Anomaly Correction

The Diplomat Desk

Jammu :TDD, Retired police pensioners in Jammu & Kashmir held a protest at Hari Singh Park, led by Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum. The protest addressed several key concerns, including the delayed implementation of a 2014 government order regarding pay anomalies, which they argue should have been applied retroactively to 1996. Other demands include medical facilities similar to paramilitary forces, reservation for their children in professional colleges and government jobs, and changes to the recovery period for commuted pension. The forum also highlighted delays in pension processing and the non-payment of leave salary and gratuity to many retirees. Furthermore, the protest criticized the disparity in Dearness Allowance (DA) between Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, with Ladakh receiving a recent increase while Jammu & Kashmir has not.TDD
