J&K Surpasses 1.05 Crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts Under Digital Health Mission

Srinagar: DD, Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a landmark milestone in digital healthcare by generating over 1.05 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), officials said on Tuesday.

This achievement marks a significant step in transforming healthcare delivery across the Union Territory through technology-driven, integrated services.

The officials said that the total number of ABHAs in J&K has reached 1,05,04,499, reflecting rapid adoption of digital health infrastructure. “Jammu & Kashmir is not only advancing in health services and digital payments, but is also emerging as a frontrunner in digital healthcare,” said an official associated with ABDM.

The mission, launched nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2021, was formally rolled out in the UT in July 2022 and has since gained remarkable momentum.

The ABDM aims to create a robust digital ecosystem connecting healthcare stakeholders nationwide, enabling seamless service delivery.
In September 2025 alone, 7.5 lakh ABHA cards were generated in J&K, demonstrating rapid grassroots adoption.

Under the guidance of Secretary Health and Medical Education, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, and ABDM Mission Director Anant Dwivedi, the UT has surpassed multiple national benchmarks, achieving 100% registration of public health professionals, public hospitals, and private health facilities.

Officials highlighted that under the “Scan & Share” service, J&K ranks among the top four states nationally, recording 82,87,701 scans and shares for OPD-based token generation.
Patients can now book OPD slots from home by scanning a QR code via the ABHA app or abdmjk.in, generating tokens in advance to minimize hospital queues. The UT has also recorded 90,44,810 Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) linked to citizens’ ABHA IDs, allowing patients to view complete health histories through the Personal Health Record (PHR) app.

J&K’s digital health efforts have earned the territory the Arogya Manthan Award in Delhi, recognizing its achievements in modernizing healthcare. Officials noted that the ABDM ensures paperless tracking from admission to discharge, enables evidence-based treatment, facilitates faster claims processing, ensures price transparency, and bridges gaps in follow-up and remote consultation for doctors, hospitals, and labs.

“The participation of health workers, allied staff, and highly qualified professionals has been pivotal to the smooth operation and implementation of ABDM in the UT,” officials said, adding that the initiative is transforming patient access, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, and setting a benchmark for digital health services nationwide.
