Jammu:DD, The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organised a book release function of “Pariyon Ka Desh (Hindukush ke Antim Hinduon ki Adbhut Sanskriti)”, a remarkable work authored by T.R. Magotra ‘Sagar’, at K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Harvinder Kour, JKAS, Secretary, JKAACL, who highlighted the Academy’s continued commitment to promoting literature, culture, and regional heritage.
She appreciated the scholarly effort of the author in documenting the lesser-known cultural traditions of the Hindukush region and preserving the narratives of its ancient Hindu communities.
Prof. Raj Kumar presented a detailed research paper on the book, providing valuable insights into the ancient Indian history and culture as reflected in Magotra’s work.
He lauded the author’s deep research and literary expression that bridge mythology, history, and anthropology.
Following the addresses, the book was formally released by the dignitaries on the dais — Dr. Om Goswami, Capt. Lalit Gupta, Prof. Raj Kumar, Sonali Arun Gupta (Additional Secretary, Dr. Javaid Rahi (Divisional Head, JKAACL Jammu), Dr. Chanchal Sharma (Editor Hindi, and the family members of the author.
Dr. Om Goswami, in his address, gave a deep and thoughtful analysis of the book, highlighting its literary merit and its relevance in understanding the continuity of Indian civilization through cultural narratives.
He praised the author for his creative approach in blending factual history with poetic sensibility.
Capt. Lalit Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, said that collectively we can make a difference in Dogra Smaaj by strengthening our cultural identity and preserving our artistic and literary traditions.
He appreciated JKAACL for organizing such meaningful literary events.
Speaking on the occasion, T.R. Magotra ‘Sagar’ shared the inspiration and background behind the book, tracing his journey of exploration into the mystical and cultural landscapes of the Hindukush.
The proceedings of the event were ably conducted by Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Editor (Hindi), JKAACL, while Dr. Javaid Rahi, Divisional Head, JKAACL, presented the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and guests for their presence and contributions.DD
