Congress Party to hold protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 22, seeking restoration of statehood

Jammu:DD, A caravan of buses carrying over 250 Congress leaders and activists from Jammu and Kashmir regions, today afternoon left from here for Delhi as part of party ‘s call for “Chalo-chalo, Delhi-chalo,” for Parliament gherao tomorrow, seeking restoration of full statehood.
Led by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra alongwith AICC General Secretary and CLP Leader G A Mir, Working President Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, AICC Secretary Shah Nawaz Chaudhary, Neeraj Kundan, MLAs Nizammudin Bhat, Irfan Hafeez Lone, Iftikhar Ahmed, and other leaders from across J&K left from Maharaja Hari Singh Park in the vehicles around 4 pm, and they reached Lakhanpur.


Amidst heavy downpour, the PCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra and other senior Congress leaders alighted from their buses at Tawi Bridge and garlanded the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Talking to reporters, Karra said that Congress Party has taken in hand a mission to get back their full statehood of Maharaja Hari Singh.
The party has been carrying on a struggle for the past around six years especially for nine months “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” and went in every nook and corner of J&K receiving overwhelming support from people.
He said that BJP downgraded the historical Dogra state arbitrarily, unilaterally and undemocratically and the promise to restore the same and directions of Supreme Court have not been implemented as the illegal action of union government completes six years on August 5, next month.
“…AICC President Malikarjun Kharge and LoP MP, Rahul Gandhi have written to the Prime Minister to introduce the legislation to restore full statehood, in this session and it has the support of the entire India block,” he said.
He informed them that they will gherao Parliament tomorrow.
The caravan was accorded reception at Lakhanpur by Ch Lal Singh. It will reach Janatar Mantir at New Delhi around 10.30 am tomorrow on July 22.DD
