JU Organises One-Day Workshop on Empowering Youth Against Drug Abuse

Jammu: To equip the next generation with the tools to resist substance abuse, a one-day intensive workshop titled “Empowering Youth Against Drug Abuse” was organized by the Community Service and Social Juristic Club and Science Club of Utsaah.

The event combined creative expression with expert insights to foster a drug-free community.
In the morning session, participants engaged in art and slogan activities, internalizing the message of a drug-free lifestyle through impactful Rangoli and slogans.

Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Director, CDOE, University of Jammu, graced the afternoon session of the workshop as the Chief Guest.
He was accompanied by Harish Kumar, Assistant Director, NCB, Jammu Zone Unit, Prof. Meena Sharma, Chairperson, Utsaah, Prof. Sarfaraz Asgher, Prof. Sadaf Shah, and other distinguished guests, who collectively appreciated the participants for their beautiful and creative advocacy reflecting the theme of the workshop.

The chief guest, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, lauded the concerted efforts of the club coordinators and students for their remarkably impressive stage performance, which effectively highlighted the significance of fostering a drug-free society.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Meena Sharma motivated the students and stressed the importance of discussions on such important issues for building a drug-free society.

A powerful lecture was delivered by Mr. Harish Kumar, AD, NCB, Jammu Zone, who highlighted the psychological triggers of addiction and emphasized the importance of peer support networks. He noted, “When we provide youth with facts and a sense of purpose, we build a natural defense against the lure of narcotics.”

Earlier, Dr. Shashi Prabha, Coordinator, CS & SJ Club, presented the welcome address.

Students of the Department of Geography, University of Jammu, presented a powerful, emotional, and engaging performance on “Nasha Mukt Bharat”, directed by Ifra Kak, Drama Instructor, University of Jammu.

Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana presented the vote of thanks and the event was coordinated by Akanksha Singh, student of Semester 3rd, Department of Geography.

The programme was attended by students and staff members from various departments of the University.DD
