Jammu : TDD,Recognizing the need to effectuate the right to health in its true sense, The Law School, University of Jammu organized a comprehensive workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Lifestyle Awareness. The event was conducted in collaboration with Maximum Clinics, a unit of Maximum Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.

The workshop featured an engaging session led by Dr. Manish Manocha, a renowned Consultant Orthopaedic, Trauma, and Joint Replacement Surgeon from the Ortho and Spine Centre. The session aimed to accomplish several critical objectives: to highlight the benefits of obtaining first aid and CPR, to familiarize participants with the proper procedures for managing various medical emergencies, to empower individuals to assist in administering first aid when a co-worker is injured, and to emphasize the importance of ensuring no harm is caused to the patient during emergency situations. Dr. Manocha led practical demonstrations on crucial first aid techniques for medical emergencies, such as managing airway obstruction, ensuring proper breathing, and maintaining circulation.

A key focus was placed on evaluating the scene of an emergency correctly—particularly in cases such as roadside trauma—to prevent further harm and avoid potentially fatal injuries. Participants learned how to administer CPR, assess responses, manage fractures, and apply pain relief techniques, along with methods for safely shifting patients, whether in cases of simple or compound fractures.

The workshop also addressed more specialized topics, such as digital microvascular replantation for amputations, the basic management of heart attacks, brain haemorrhages, electrical shocks, heat exhaustion, and epileptic seizures. Participants were guided through preventive measures and basic life-saving techniques for these medical conditions. In addition to emergency care, the session emphasized the importance of lifestyle modifications in the prevention of common lifestyle diseases. Regular exercise and healthier living practices were strongly advocated as preventive measures.

Earlier Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Director, The Law School, formally welcomed the distinguished speakers and demonstrators, underlining the necessity of such awareness sessions, which can significantly impact lives by imparting basic life-saving knowledge and skills.
The workshop saw active participation from seventy students and was successfully coordinated by Dr. Monica Narang and Dr. Nitan Sharma, with invaluable assistance from students Palak and Janvi Sharma.

The session’s success can also be attributed to the contributions of Kanchan Manocha, Mohd. Ali, Vishal Singh, Shilpa Jaswal, Govind, Dr. Shubha Vats, Dr. Monika Bhardwaj, Dr. Rajneesh Khajuria, Dr. Vandita Sharma, and Dr. Ramesh Kumar, whose efforts helped make the session interactive and immersive.TDD
