Jammu :TDD, In a major boost to connectivity and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Government of India is set to launch the Vande Bharat Express sleeper train connecting New Delhi to Srinagar starting January 25, 2025. This new rail service is expected to revolutionize travel between the national capital and the picturesque Kashmir Valley.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat sleeper train will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Srinagar, making the journey more convenient for both tourists and locals. The train will offer modern amenities, including upgraded berths, improved lighting, and a climate-controlled environment, ensuring a comfortable journey for passengers.
The Vande Bharat Express, manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited, was unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in September 2024. It is a testament to the Indian Railways’ modernization efforts, aiming to provide faster, more efficient, and comfortable travel experiences.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train will halt at major stations including Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jammu Tawi, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The train will cover a distance of over 800 kilometers in less than 13 hours, departing from New Delhi at 7 pm and arriving in Srinagar at 8 am.
The Indian Railways has also planned to extend the service to Baramulla in the future, further improving connectivity in North Kashmir. This will benefit both locals and tourists, making travel easier and more accessible.TDD
