Kashmir Cyber Police issues stern warning against sharing hateful content online

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar,, (DD): The Cyber Police Kashmir has issued a strong warning regarding the circulation of hateful, sectarian content on social media.

Officials revealed that content, initially posted by an individual and later removed, has been downloaded and disseminated by malicious users aiming to incite unrest.

In an official statement, the Cyber Police affirmed that they are closely monitoring the situation and have identified several individuals involved in spreading the harmful material. “Strict legal action is being taken against those responsible,” the statement read, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated.

The police confirmed that multiple offenders have been summoned to the Cyber Police Station, and legal proceedings are already underway. “We urge individuals who have downloaded or shared this content to stop immediately. Sharing hateful material, especially with sectarian undertones, is a serious offense,” the statement warned.

The Cyber Police also reminded the public that all social media platforms are under constant surveillance, and those found promoting or distributing harmful content will face severe consequences. “We are watching, and no violator will be spared,” the police said, reiterating their commitment to maintaining law and order online.

This warning comes amid growing concerns over the increasing use of social media to spread divisive and hateful content in Jammu and Kashmir. In the past few days, Kashmir witnessed several instances of online hate speech and sectarian content being circulated, often with the intent of fostering tensions between different communities. Authorities have ramped up efforts to combat such activities, given their potential to disrupt peace and harmony in the region. The Kashmir Cyber Police, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, has been working to track and apprehend individuals responsible for these actions, as part of a broader initiative to promote responsible digital behavior and curb online hate crimes.(DD)
