Udhampur :TDD- In a display of democratic commitment, Kashmiri migrants in Udhampur exercised their right to vote today for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections. The special polling station, set up at ITI College Udhampur, saw enthusiastic participation from Kashmiri Pandits, including women and first-time voters, who have been displaced from their homeland for decades.

The polling stations catered to 16 Assembly Constituencies of the Kashmir Region, with authorities establishing separate booths for each constituency.
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Saloni Rai (IAS) reported that by 1 PM, 23% of votes had been cast at these special polling stations.To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the electoral process, stringent security measures were implemented, Paramilitary forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police were deployed in and around the polling station.
The administration provided transportation services to facilitate voting for the migrants.
Official reports indicate a significant turnout among the Kashmiri migrant community Total registered Kashmiri migrant voters is 904 ,Votes cast by 1 PM: 23% (approximately 208 voters)and Final turnout: 286 out of 904 voters (31.64%).The special polling arrangement for Kashmiri migrants underscores the Election Commission efforts to ensure their continued participation in the democratic process.
