Srinagar,(DD): In the wake of reports about attacks on Kashmiri students and traders in various parts of the country, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday appealed for restraint and unity, urging people not to hold ordinary Kashmiris responsible for acts of terror.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, CM Omar expressed concern over emerging reports of Kashmiris being harassed or attacked outside the Valley. “I appeal to the people across India—do not treat the people of Kashmir as your enemies. If the central government believes that Pakistan was behind the Pahalgam attack, then why are innocent youth and students from Jammu and Kashmir being targeted in other states?” he questioned.
The Chief Minister said he has reached out to several state leaders across the country, requesting them to ensure the safety and dignity of Kashmiri residents. “People of Jammu and Kashmir are not enemies of peace. What happened was beyond our control, and we must not allow hatred to grow from it,” he emphasized.
CM Omar also expressed deep condolences for all victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. “Whether it was a local who gave his life protecting visitors or the tourists who came to experience our hospitality, we mourn every loss,” he said.(DD)
