Leh: Teams and players from across the country have begun arriving in Leh to participate in the Khelo India Winter Games 2026. The athletes were accorded a warm and vibrant welcome by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, reflecting Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage and traditional hospitality.
Upon their arrival in Leh, players were welcomed with traditional scarves and customary local greetings, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and camaraderie.
The welcome programme aimed to make the visiting teams feel at home while showcasing Ladakh’s unique cultural identity.
The Khelo India Winter Games 2026 will be held from January 20 to 27, featuring a range of winter sports disciplines and bringing together athletes from various States and Union Territories.
The event is expected to promote winter sports, encourage youth participation, and provide national-level exposure to athletes in snow and ice sports.
Officials from the Department informed that all necessary arrangements, including accommodation, transportation, medical facilities, and sporting venues, have been put in place to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Games.
Adequate measures have also been taken to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of all participants.DD
