Jammu, (TDD): General officer Commanding (GoC) of 10 Infantry Major General Sameer Srivastava today said that the killing of three terrorists was a big success for the army and forces as terrorists had tried to attack army convoy to inflict maximum damage which they couldn’t do.

Addressing a joint presser in Jammu, the GoC 10 Infantry division said that a M-4 carbine was recovered from the slain terrorists for the first time in Akhnoor area. “M-4 has been earlier recovered from other areas but it was for the first time that this gun was recovered in Akhnoor, ” he said.

The GoC said that killing three terrorists was a big success and it wasn’t clear yet whether the group had freshly infiltrated. “Large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain,” he said.

GoC Srivastava said that in Akhnoor there are no inputs about the presence of any terrorist group.

“As there are reports of terrorist movements from other parts but from Akhnoor there is no such thing, ” he said.
About the expert dog Phantom, the army officer said that they use dogs in such operations.
“It was due to his help that we identified the location of the first terrorist,” he said.

The GoC said that terrorists may change pattern of attacks and infiltration ahead of snowfall but the troops are ready to deal with every challenge.

He said that there are about 50-60 terrorists at launch pads across who may try to sneak into this side before snowfall.

Present on the occasion, DIG Shiv Kumar said that terrorists failed to get support from Battar school kids. “The alert school children informed their teacher and Village Defence Guard (VDG) after which the terrorists were cornered,” he said.

He said investigations are on which route the slain terrorists had chosen for infiltration. “We are in touch with local residents,” he said. (TDD) .
