Kishtwar, DD: In a groundbreaking move, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Tasleem wani Kishtwar, who also serves as the Member Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority, has notified standard rates for the facilitation of online services related to the Motor Vehicles Department. This step has been taken with the approval of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, making the district possibly the first in the region to implement such a system.
This initiative comes as a major relief for the public, who had been raising concerns about being overcharged by internet cafés and Common Service Centers (CSCs) when applying for services such as permits, driving licenses, learner licenses, and vehicle transfers. With the introduction of fixed facilitation charges, applicants will now have clarity on the costs involved and will no longer have to pay arbitrary amounts.
The decision aims to promote transparency and ensure that all citizens can access online motor vehicle services at reasonable rates. Authorities have urged the public to report any overcharging incidents so that strict action can be taken against violators.
This initiative is expected to enhance digital accessibility and streamline the application process for various transport-related services in Kishtwar, setting an example for other districts to follow.DD
