Kishtwar, TDD,In a major push for economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, announced a series of transformative projects aimed at boosting local industries and creating jobs for the youth in the Kishtwar and Bhaderwah areas of Jammu region.
Among the key initiatives are the establishment of a Saffron Park and a Sapphire Extraction Project in Kishtwar, along with the promotion of Lavender Cultivation in Bhaderwah.
Speaking on these developments, Dr. Jitendra Singh said the positive impact these projects will have on the local economy and employment landscape, particularly for the youth. He said, “These initiatives are not just about economic growth; they are about empowering our young people with sustainable livelihood opportunities. Over 1,000 youth will directly benefit from these projects, which will offer them long-term employment prospects.”
The Saffron Park in Kishtwar aims to increase the production and export of saffron, a key agricultural product from the region, which will help boost the livelihoods of local farmers. The Sapphire Extraction Project will harness the region’s mineral resources, opening doors for a new industry that promises both economic and job growth.
Meanwhile, the focus on Lavender Cultivation in Bhaderwah is part of a broader push to promote organic farming and create high-value agricultural products. Dr. Singh noted, “Lavender has vast potential in the global market, and by cultivating it in Bhaderwah, we not only diversify the region’s agricultural output but also create a model for sustainable farming.”
Dr. Singh also highlighted that these projects align with the government’s vision to make Jammu and Kashmir a hub for eco-friendly industries while providing a livelihood to local communities. “We are committed to bringing about a holistic transformation in the region that will empower the youth, promote sustainability, and ensure long-term growth for Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
