Kishtwar, (DD): The death toll in the ongoing encounter in the Chhatru forest area of Kishtwar district has risen to three, following the elimination of two more terrorists late Friday night, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Security officials said the operation was launched on April 9 after alert forces detected suspicious movement in the area.
According to a statement from the Army, “Despite difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions, security forces successfully neutralized two additional terrorists, marking significant progress in the operation aimed at restoring regional security.”
The Army’s White Knight Corps also reported the recovery of a large cache of war-like stores, including an AK-47 and an M4 rifle, dealing a serious blow to terrorist operations in the area.
The joint operation, conducted in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, is based on precise intelligence inputs regarding terrorist activity in the region.
Security forces said the operation remains active, with efforts continuing to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure the safety of civilians.(DD)
