Kishtwar:TDD,In a swift and commendable achievement, District Police Kishtwar solved a transformer theft case within 24 hours, arresting three individuals and recovering the stolen 25 KV electric transformer along with its core and coils.
The theft occurred during the intervening night of January 3/4, 2025, in the Chandara-Balgran area of Drabshalla.
Acting promptly on receiving a complaint, SSP Kishtwar, constituted a special team led by IC PP Drabshalla under the supervision of Dy. SP Headquarters Kishtwar. Using a combination of technical and diligent investigation, the team identified and apprehended the suspects behind the crime.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd. Mushtaq, S/O Mohd. Ameen Shah, R/O Dunadi, Drabshalla, Mohd. Dawood, S/O Ghulam Mohd., R/O Balgran, Drabshalla and Liaqat Hussain, S/O Hazoor Din, R/O Chamoti, Drabshalla
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the theft and disclosed the location where they had concealed the stolen property. Acting on their disclosure, the police team successfully recovered the stolen 25 KV electric transformer along with its core and coils.
A case, FIR No. 07/2025 under relevant sections of law, has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
SSP Kishtwar, reiterated that strict action will continue to be taken against individuals involved in illegal activities.
He issued a stern warning to anti-social elements and criminal syndicates operating in the district, emphasizing that no one will be spared if found disrupting peace or indulging in unlawful acts. “The Kishtwar Police will leave no stone unturned to bring offenders to justice, and those involved in crimes like theft, or other illegal activities will face the full force of the law.TDD
