Srinagar, TDD, In a significant milestone for the region’s agricultural and food processing industry, the Kargil Producers Federation (KPF) has launched the first-ever natural apple juice in Kargil, Ladakh.

This new product marks a notable step towards boosting local agriculture, enhancing the region’s economy, and promoting sustainable practices.

Kargil, known for its diverse and rich apple orchards, has now added another innovative product to its agricultural offerings. The natural apple juice, which is 100% pure with no artificial additives or preservatives, has been created using locally grown apples, ensuring freshness and quality. The initiative is expected to not only create new markets for Kargil’s apple farmers but also provide a healthy, locally sourced alternative for consumers.

At the launch event, KPF President, Shahnawaz Khan, shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This is a proud moment for Kargil, where we take the bounty of our orchards and turn it into a product that reflects our commitment to quality and sustainability. This apple juice is a product of our hard work and dedication to supporting local agriculture.”

Kargil’s Chief Agriculture Officer, Farooq Ahmad, also expressed support for the initiative: “This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a growing movement in the region. The apple juice not only brings value to our apples but also creates new income opportunities for our farmers. We aim to encourage more farmers to embrace value addition to their produce.”

KPF representatives said the importance of supporting local industries and providing opportunities for farmers to add value to their produce. They also highlighted the potential for expanding the product line in the future, with plans to explore other fruit-based juices and related products. Tariq Ali, a local farmer, added, “This venture gives us a sense of pride. It’s a way to showcase our apples to the world in a new form, and we hope it leads to better recognition for our work.”

This development is expected to strengthen Kargil’s position as a key player in Ladakh’s agricultural sector, offering a refreshing product that meets growing demand for natural, organic beverages. The success of the apple juice initiative could pave the way for further innovations and create more employment opportunities for local communities. (TDD)
