KTA calls for immediate healthcare overhaul to tackle surge in winter-related health issues amid cold wave

The Diplomat Desk

Srinagar, TDD,The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has called on the Jammu and Kashmir Government to urgently improve healthcare facilities in light of the ongoing cold wave, which has led to a significant increase in respiratory infections, chest ailments, and heart attack cases. In a statement issued today, KTA President Aijaz Shahdhar emphasized that hospitals and healthcare centers across the region are overwhelmed with patients due to the severe winter weather, which is exacerbating existing health problems.

Shahdhar pointed out that the winter months traditionally see a rise in heart attack cases, and this year the surge has been particularly concerning, further straining the already overburdened healthcare system. Following visits to various medical institutions, the KTA identified an immediate need to upgrade both infrastructure and medical capacity to address the growing health crisis effectively.

“Our tertiary care hospitals are facing high patient volumes, leading to long waiting times for essential treatments,” Shahdhar stated. “It is critical for the government to take swift action to enhance the operational and infrastructural capabilities of our healthcare facilities to prevent further deterioration of the situation.”

In light of these pressing challenges, KTA has appealed directly to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, urging them to take personal initiative and issue necessary directions to address the escalating healthcare crisis in the Valley(TDD)
