Poonch, DD, In a significant step toward promoting family welfare and women’s health, the Health Department conducted successful laparoscopic sterilization (laproligation) camps at two major locations in Poonch district.

A four-day laproligation camp was organized at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Surankote from June 25 to 28, 2025, under the guidance of Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, and the supervision of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, along with Block Medical Officer Surankote.

During the camp, 150 women underwent laparoscopic sterilization procedures. All beneficiaries were safely discharged on the same day of their procedures and were provided with free medicines and transportation facilities, ensuring convenience and care throughout the process.

In a similar initiative, a two-day laproligation camp was held at Government Sub District Hospital Mendhar on June 23 and 24, where 84 women availed the sterilization services.

The camps are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible and free family planning services to women in remote and underserved areas, aiming to improve reproductive health and empower women through informed choices.

Health officials appreciated the cooperation of local medical teams and expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives in the future to ensure quality healthcare reaches every corner of the district.DD
