Srinagar, (DD) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar, directing law enforcement agencies to step up counterterrorism efforts and dismantle terror support structures across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the LG reiterated the administration’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and granted security forces a free hand to neutralise militant threats. He warned that individuals aiding, abetting, or financing terrorism would face severe consequences.
The meeting also focused on cyber threats, with the LG calling for strict action against those misusing digital platforms for disruptive activities and spreading disinformation. He emphasised the need for aggressive measures to counter radical narratives while ensuring all actions adhere to legal frameworks.
The security review comes amid heightened concerns over recent incidents in the region. Officials were instructed to enhance intelligence-sharing mechanisms, strengthen surveillance, and take proactive steps to safeguard peace and stability in the Union Territory.
Following the meeting, security agencies have intensified operations across sensitive areas, with coordinated efforts between the J&K Police, intelligence agencies, and paramilitary forces. Additional security measures are expected in the coming days to prevent any attempts to destabilise the region.
The LG’s directive signals a renewed push to eradicate terrorism and its ecosystem, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir.(DD)
