Udhampur, (DD) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the Physics Bharat Yatra from Udhampur today, an ambitious national initiative aimed at promoting hands-on science learning and nurturing a scientific mindset among students across the country.
The event, led by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and the National Anveshika Network of India (NANI), is being spearheaded by renowned physicist Padma Shri Dr H.C. Verma. The Yatra will traverse every district of India, connecting schools, educators, and students through interactive experiments and exhibitions.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor commended the initiative for sparking creativity and scientific curiosity among the youth. “This Yatra will rekindle the joy of learning science and foster a unified national mission around scientific growth,” he said.
Highlighting India’s growing scientific strength, the Lieutenant Governor referenced Operation Sindoor as a testament to the nation’s indigenous defence capabilities and technological advancements. “Operation Sindoor has showcased India’s scientific prowess and our resolve for self-reliance. Our scientists and defence forces have proven they are unmatched in the world,” he stated.
He credited the progress to a decade of transformative leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has reshaped India’s vision of Aatmnirbharata (self-reliance).
The Lieutenant Governor urged science teachers to keep pace with modern innovations and bring new advancements into classrooms and laboratories. He encouraged schools to offer a broader platform for young minds to experiment and innovate.
He also made an appeal to Indian scientists and engineers working abroad to return home and contribute to India’s scientific and economic development, saying, “India today offers the right environment for breakthrough innovations and global leadership in science.”
Emphasising India’s unique blend of tradition and progress, he added, “The confluence of science, spirituality, and cultural values is fuelling our global rise. Our national resolve is to build a developed India by 2047.”
Dr H.C. Verma outlined the vision of Physics Bharat Yatra, which is focused on experiential learning and encouraging the public—especially youth—to embrace science in their daily lives.
The event also featured a vibrant exhibition of student-led science models and experiments. Among the dignitaries present were MLAs Pawan Kumar Gupta and Balwant Singh Mankotia, DIG Sarah Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, IAPT officials, teachers, students, and members of the public.(DD)
