Kishtwar,DD, J&K:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today expressed deep condolences and reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment toward the rehabilitation of victims affected by the devastating cloudburst that struck Chasoti, Paddar, on August 14.
Speaking on the incident, the LG said, “On 14 August, after a heavy natural calamity, many local residents, devotees, and security personnel lost their lives. Since then, the administration, local MLA Sunil Sharma, and others have undertaken relief and rehabilitation efforts with sensitivity.”
He further stated that government-sanctioned State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) assistance was provided, and substantial funds have been allocated for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of houses. “Efforts are also underway to rebuild roads, bridges, petrol pumps, and mobile towers, and to establish an Army School in the region,” the LG added.
Highlighting the Centre’s continued support, LG Sinha mentioned that despite adverse weather conditions preventing the Defence Minister’s earlier visit, the Union Government remains fully committed to aiding recovery efforts. “The Prime Minister has assured full government support for the rehabilitation and revival of the affected families,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that every possible measure will be taken to restore normalcy and provide long-term support to the affected communities of Chasoti and adjoining areas.DD
