Three-Member Panel to Submit Report in Two Weeks

Srinagar,(DD) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has set up a three-member high-level committee to probe the recent landslide near Adhkawari on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji track in Reasi district that claimed lives and caused panic among pilgrims on August 26.
As per the order issued by Raj Bhavan, the committee will be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Jal Shakti, with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and the Inspector General of Police Jammu as its members.
The panel has been mandated to examine the causes behind the landslide, identify any lapses, review the rescue and relief measures, and recommend a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and preventive measures to avert such incidents in future.
The committee has been asked to submit its findings within two weeks to the Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Officials said the move is aimed at fixing responsibility and ensuring enhanced safety protocols for lakhs of pilgrims who undertake the yatra every year(DD)
