Srinagar, (DD): In the wake of the recent militant attack in Pahalgam, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level security review meeting to assess the prevailing security scenario across the Union Territory. The meeting was attended by Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, senior officers from the Army, CRPF, intelligence agencies, and the civil administration.The Lieutenant Governor, in a post on social media platform X, reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism, stating: “Chaired a security review meeting with DGP Nalin Prabhat and other senior officials. It is the collective resolve of the people of J&K and the nation to destroy the root of terror emanating from our neighborhood. We must be resolute to fulfill this mission.”According to Raj Bhawan sources, the meeting was convened following Sunday evening’s terrorist attack in the tourist resort of Pahalgam, where militants ambushed a police vehicle, injuring two personnel. Security agencies suspect the involvement of a newly infiltrated group linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), operating in South Kashmir. Officials familiar with the developments told this reporter that intelligence inputs indicate heightened militant activity in parts of Anantnag and Kulgam districts. “We are in the process of tightening the anti-infiltration grid ahead of the Amarnath Yatra and the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The Pahalgam attack is being viewed as an attempt to disrupt the prevailing peace,” a senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.Sources added that the LG directed the security establishment to adopt a “zero-tolerance” approach and ensure seamless coordination among all agencies. He emphasized the importance of protecting civilian lives and maintaining peace during the upcoming pilgrimage and electoral exercises.Meanwhile, additional security measures have been put in place in South Kashmir, with intensified area domination, surprise checks, and increased night patrolling(DD)
