LG Sinha Holds High-Level Meeting to Address Plight of Terror Victim Families

Orders Reopening of Suppressed Cases, Restoration of Grabbed Properties, and Priority Employment for Next of Kin

Srinagar, (DD): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today convened a high-level meeting to review the issues faced by families affected by terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasising the need for justice and accountability, the LG directed officials to take concrete measures to support the families of those killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.

In a strong message, the LG instructed deputy commissioners and senior police officers to reopen old cases that were deliberately ignored or suppressed and to ensure that fresh First Information Reports (FIRs) are lodged where required.

He stressed that those responsible for heinous crimes and still evading justice for decades must be held accountable.

Further, the LG issued directions for the restoration of land and property belonging to terror victim families that had been illegally occupied by terrorists or their sympathisers. He called for swift administrative action to return these assets to their rightful owners.

To strengthen support mechanisms, the LG also asked authorities to provide government employment to eligible family members on a priority basis.

Moreover, he urged for a thorough identification of individuals linked to the terror ecosystem—especially those involved in civilian killings—who may now be employed in government departments, so that appropriate action can be taken.

The Lieutenant Governor announced the creation of a dedicated cell within the Raj Bhavan to address grievances and monitor the welfare of terror victim families. A similar cell is to be set up in the office of the Chief Secretary to ensure coordinated support and timely resolution of issues.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering justice and ensuring dignity, security, and support for the families who have suffered due to terrorism(DD)
